So, what's with the name "WhatBox"?
Simple. We don't work in the "box", so we needn't attempt to find creative solutions that are "out of the box". For WhatBox, there is no "box".
Why are you different from other design firms?
We have built a design firm that we would want to be clients of ourselves. Our goal is to provide clients with effective and creative business building solutions that are solid investments in their successful growth through developing authentic relationships in an approachable and personable manner.
What one strategic thing do you really do well?
Launching new ventures or repositioning tired ones.
Can WhatBox work from a distance?
WhatBox provides effective branding and design work for clients across the globe. With technology and tools like Skype, WeTransfer, join.me, DropBox, email and the venerable telephone, it is possible to communicate effectively with clients in any location.
How long do projects usually take?
All projects are unique, but a good rule of thumb is:
- Logo design work, graphic and corporate branding projects generally take three to four weeks at least, but again this depends on the requirements, workload and scale.
- Most web projects take at least 4-8 weeks, depending on size, type and urgency. And how ready a client is with their content.
- In-studio photo shoots are relatively quick, and depend on what you require and our studio availability. Sessions themselves can vary from 30 minutes to several days. Turnaround time for web galleries and photo processing depends on the project and scale. On-location photography is another ball-game. If you need any photographic work done on location (in your neck of the woods), variables can be endless. Best to contact us.
If I contacted you for a quote, how long till I receive it?
We’ll be in touch within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.
How do you determine price?
WhatBox is a competitive fee-for-service company producing unique-to-you work. We come to our quotes by looking at the likely time needed for a project. We have an itemized list of all services we offer, with all prices set, so there's no early confusion or late surprises. Our quoting and billing is completely transparent to you at all times.
A website design project, for example, can involve any number of factors that affect the ultimate cost, including the number of pages needed, whether the site needs to sell products and other specific functionality and so on, and quite a bit of detail is required before we can accurately quote.
How long is my quote good for?
Quotes are effective for 60 days. After that we’d be happy to re-quote you for a project. We don't adjust prices very frequently.
Once a quote is agreed upon, and we have a contract, what do you start with?
Depending on the project, our proprietary strategic communications exercise, called an MCAPS, is usually phase one. This gets everyone on the same page before design work begins.
What are your financial terms?
Depending on your project, WhatBox generally requires a minimum 33% deposit to start. Progress billing is billed due on receipt with a maximum 30-day grace period.
What if I don’t like the end result?
You will . . . otherwise it is not the end, right?
At the end of the project, what exactly do I own?
Usually the whole shebang: Licensing for imagery is on a per project and requirement basis though, but otherwise all graphics that might have been secured for a project, web code, and all final print-ready files are yours. You own all rights to graphic and web projects.
Is that the end to your FAQ's?
Yes. At least here. But contact us at any time if you have other questions.
